A Note from ChelseyThis performance was one for the books staging and choreographing Cats: The Jellicle Ball Tony number had me challenging myself in every direction. The Tonys pushed the idea of what the number could be and expanded it to a moment that will go down in history. I worked close with the Director of the Tonys to be sure this not only was shot beautfullly but told a story to the folks at home. Leaving at home audiences with the desire to see the full show. My goal was to tell a mini version of our show in 4 minutes and I feel like it was incredibly successful and left people leaping to their feet for a standing ovation.
I think Sweeney Todd is one of the best Tony performances in a long time, and Steven just trusted me with it completely. He was on vacation and didn't attend. We had to work the swings into the opening number — which is always a challenge because you're adjusting formations that were built for the playing cast. But the cast nailed it.
