A Note from Chelsey

This was the first associate job I did for Steven Hoggett, and it was a turning point — in every way. Steven Hoggett pulled me off Harry Potter as a performer to do this, and I kept asking him: are you sure you want me? It was such a high-profile production. Everybody wanted to be in the room because Tommy Kail was directing, Josh Groban was starring in it along Annaleigh Ashford.

We created movement that by all logic should not have worked in Sweeney Todd, and now it's kind of iconic. I'll walk down the street and someone will just do a phrase from the opening, and I'm like — wait, what? I'm genuinely proud of it.

It was also my first time being on a team that received a Tony nomination, and I got to attend the ceremony. After this show, Steven asked me if I was sure I wanted to go back to performing. That question was the turning point for my career I left Harry Potter as a performer, became the associate, and haven't looked back.
