Social!
Park Amory
A Note from ChelseySteven called me during the pandemic. This was the first show back. He and Christine conceived it so that we could have LIVE performance again — socially distanced inside The Park Armory, with a hundred individual spotlights, each audience member in their own pool of light.
The whole hour was narrated by the icoic David Byrne who was also there most night dancing his heart out. It was really special. What moved me most was seeing New Yorkers so desperately wanting to come back to live theater — watching people dance for an hour in their own spotlight, in their own world. It gave me real hope when we all had very little.
If this was what theater had to be from that point forward, that was still okay. David is iconic, and the combination of him, his music, and that space was just the coolest thing.
