A Note from ChelseyI’d never done a holiday show before, and I had never worked with a children's audience as the primary target — and that really stretches your brain in interesting ways. There are just boundaries, and you have to think differently about what serves the story.
Anytime I get to work with acrobats, it's like working with actors — they're not dancers, so the challenge is creating movement that looks great on their bodies and complements their skill all well pushing the story forward. There is something exciting to me about the challenge with this type of work vs working with dancers who can just execute anything. We also had to fit the show into a proscenium, which is unusual for Cirque — they normally perform in custom-built spaces or a tent.
The goal was to create multiple touring companies, and I believe there are now three touring each season.
