Wanted
THe James Earl Jones Theatre
A Note from ChelseyThis one is complicated — and honestly, emotional. I started as the associate choreographer, and the ask wasn't simple. I was eventually brought on as the lead choreographer to take show to broadway- I couldn't be more thrilled and ready to step into the my own.
The music is amazing. It's about two passing white women, and I feel very close to that story. I was the last puzzle piece — the creative team had changed a lot over ten years, including the director going from Robert O'Hara to Stevie Walker-Webb.
I came in at the 11th hour, and I had to build entirely new choreography. I couldn't use anything from the Paper Mill production, even though I had been part of it. So I was reinventing something I was already attached to, which is strange and challenging in a specific way. What came out of it, I think, is really exciting.
This is my Broadway debut as a choreographer, and New York is watching. Make way!
